چکیده

To evaluate knot security, loop and size of suture tape wire. The single load to failure (LTF) cyclic loading one arthroscopic (Samsung Medical Center [SMC]) hand-tied (surgeon’s knot) using two tapes (Broadband-[BB], Suture Tape-[ST]) No. 2 wires (MaxBraid-[MB], FiberWire-[FW]). A third (FiberTape-[FT]), not commonly tied arthroscopically, was included in the group. Ten samples for each suture-knot combination were evaluated volume. Data compared with analysis variance Tukey post-hoc test considered significant at P < 0.05. In LTF testing, FT stronger than any other configuration. With surgeon’s knots, BB MB FW, while ST superior FW. loading, had less elongation Among smallest BB. largest among all configurations. No differences detected SMC-knot configurations LTF, elongation. Measuring FW greater volume ST, larger ST. Excluding FT, knots smaller SMC-knots. SMC-knots, bulkier MB. overall. best but poorest security better both wires; also bested Hand-tied BB, their counterparts. demonstrated knots; no seen between Thinner designs (BB, ST) wire when

Initial loop and knot security of arthroscopic knots using high-strength sutures.

PURPOSE There are many options for arthroscopic knots including the type of knot and suture material used. The current investigation evaluated knot properties using 3 high-strength suture materials tied in 5 common arthroscopic knot configurations. METHODS Four arthroscopic sliding knots including the Roeder, Weston, SMC, and Tennessee Slider and an arthroscopic nonsliding Surgeon's knot were...

Pullout strength of knotless suture anchors.

PURPOSE Suture anchors are used consistently for repairs of soft tissues, especially around the glenohumeral joint. These anchors can be used either arthroscopically or in an open procedure to anatomically restore the labrum and capsular tissues to the glenoid after avulsion injuries (Bankart lesion). The purpose of this study was to analyze the pullout strength of a new knotless suture anchor ...

High-Strength Bainitic Steels

With careful design, mixed microstructures consisting of fine plates of upper bainitic ferrite separated by thin films of stable retained austenite have exhibited impressive combinations of strength and toughness in highsilicon bainitic steels. The silicon suppresses the precipitation of brittle cementite leading to an improvement in toughness. The essential principles governing the optimisatio...

Suture strength and angle of load application in a suture anchor eyelet.

PURPOSE To assess the effect of suture material, anchor orientation, and anchor eyelet design on the static loading properties of suture anchors. TYPE OF STUDY Biomechanical bench study. METHODS Two metallic suture anchors, Mitek GII (Mitek, Westwood, MA) and Corkscrew (Arthrex, Naples, FL) and a bioabsorbable anchor (Biocorkscrew; Arthrex) were tested with single strand of No. 2 Ethibond (...
